I have always loved to balance the left and right sides of my brain. When I was in college taking engineering classes, I took art classes as electives and I really believe it helped keep me sane. After college I continued to do art on my own but eventually my artistic practice went into hibernation. In October of 2018, I painted a small landscape in watercolor inspired by a beautiful photograph and I was hooked. I haven't stopped since! I get so much out of painting. It brings so much joy to my life and I can't get enough!
I love painting primarily in watercolors, I just love how it flows. It's such a meditative process for me, watching the paint flow on the paper. I also love to mix it up with other materials to keep it interesting. Lately I have been playing around with watercolors, inks and pastels all together in creative chaos!
My favorite subject is landscapes and I have been focused more lately on painting from life. It is a totally different experience than painting from photographs in the studio. Painting out in nature feels lively and "in the moment" because I am literally painting what I see as I am placed within the landscape. Painting in the studio feel
My favorite subject is landscapes and I have been focused more lately on painting from life. It is a totally different experience than painting from photographs in the studio. Painting out in nature feels lively and "in the moment" because I am literally painting what I see as I am placed within the landscape. Painting in the studio feels very intimate. I usually paint at night before bed when it is quiet and calm. On the best nights my painting takes on many twists and turns while I play and "find" the painting. Both experiences of working out in nature and in the studio are invaluable to me.
